FINALLY!!

I finally have some socks to report! I've been working on these socks since the end of June (yes, JUNE!) I refused to start any other socks until these were done (because I know me, if I put them aside, they'd NEVER get done!) and I'm so glad I persevered!! They fit very cozy and since they are more of a sport weight, they will be perfect in my sneakers or around the house. I'm really happy with them. Here is a pic, but it doesnt show its true colors. Check out my blog for for more details. I think I'll wear them to bed tonight....

One Down. One To Go.

The Details:

Pattern: Melanie's Twist
Needles: Size 2
Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock
Colorway: Buck's Bar

These socks were so much fun to do. They have enough patterning to keep you interested, but not so much that you can't watch a little TV too.

Now ... on to sock #2 which should be easier now that I have some experience with the pattern.

Come on over and visit at my blog for more info on the socks or just to say hello. :-)

Another Knit-along Newbie

Thank you, Christina for getting me all set up. I've been reading the blog for a couple of days. I am dazed and amazed at the variety of socks being knitted. I want to do them ALL.

My current sock is photographed below. The pattern is Melanie's Twist. The yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn in the colorway: Buck's Bar.

I'm real happy to be here and look forward to being an active (i.e. actually getting some knitted socks finished!) member of this knit-along.

Newbie with new socks!

Hi everyone. I'm new here, and my name is Nicole Rodgers. You can find out more about me and my wacky life on my blog. I just wanted to thank our blogmom for letting me join you all here. I'd also like to share my latest FO, toe grafted just last night.
The pattern is "Cascading Leaves" by Jeanie Townsend, and the yarn is Scheepjes Invicta. I knitted them on 3.0 mm Bryspun dpns that I was trying out. I started these back in the early spring, but they kept getting put aside for other projects that were on a deadline. But now they are finally done, and I get to enjoy them!

Progress

After a bout of 2nd sock syndrome (lone alpaca sock that's been done for some time), I discovered a cure -- alternate knitting between two pairs. Here you see the poor alpaca next to an Opal Tiger sock in a purled ladder pattern. I am now working on the second alpaca sock and humming right along. Both are inspired by Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch.

I've also joined the Mystery Sock KAL. Anyone else?

Zokni sock w Widdershins heel

I'm finally almost done with the first, hopefully, of a pair of Zokni socks for my DD. (She doesn't know I'm making her socks. But we have about the same size foot. Hers is just a bit longer than mine.) They're done in Knitpicks Essential yarn with size 1 needles. The lace pattern is interesting in that it has a lot of purl stitches in it to give it a little texture. I first started the socks as cuff down twice. Then I tried toe up with various toe cast ons. (I finally ended up with the cast on where one wraps yarn around 2 needles and then knits off one and then the other needle.) All was well then until the heel. I tried the Widdershins heel. The first time I tried it (using my adaption of the Knitty.com pattern), it didn't work for me. Then after trying a different heel, frogging it, and then reading the Widdershins link linked in this paragraph, it finally worked. All I have left to do now is ribbing and finding a loose cast off.

Socks

Another pair done... It's a binge, I tell you! Anyway, plain socks knit on 2.5mm needles, Hello Yarn colourway called Hoot... I like it, and the bright green is a nice contrast! The next couple of pairs I want to knit are varigated-stripey yarn as well... I'm going to have to do some solids soon, something lacy or with cables...

New Member

Hi, i'm new to this blog and thought i'd post about the socks i'm knitting at the moment.
I have just started to knit Unst from Knitting on the Road by Nancy Bush. I am using Opal Rodeo Cotton (shade 1174) and Brittany Birch 2.25mm dpns. This is the first time i have knitr with yarn with such a high cotton content and I am finding it really comfortable.

My other sock project is Cherry Tree Hill pattern for Basic Ribbed Socks, I have completed one sock, but am concentrating on the Unst at the moment as it is the sock of the month for a kal. I am using Cherry Tree Hill Supersock (shade Northern Lights) and BB 2.75mm dpns. I love the texture of this yarn and the colours are divine. The photo really doesn't do the yarn justice. It is a lovely deep purple variagated yarn with hot pink and bright green.
