Well, I finally cast on my very first pair of socks! I am doing Broadripple from Knitty. So far I have only knit 12 rows (the cuff), but I should make more progress over the weekend. I'm knitting them with double pointed needles. It always takes me a few tries to get my yarn joined, but after about 3 tries I did it! I'm excited to have finally joined the sock knitters, even if I have not gotten very far on my first sock!

Ah, first socks are very exciting. Good luck, it takes a little practice, but you'll get the hang of it in no time. What yarn are you using?
I'm using the yarn suggested in the pattern, Cascade Yarns Fixation. I can't remember the name of the color, and I don't have it with me, but it reminds me of sherbert. Originally I cast on with a different stretchy yarn, but it was coming out way too big, but I think that may have been my technique, and will try it again some time--I was afraid to stretch it when knitting, so I think that was my problem. I did not progress as much as I hoped over the weekend, but I am working on the leg of the first sock.
