I had the same problem of not wanting to take the time to divide a ball of sock yarn - so I'm knitting 2 on 2, but they are two different socks. Oh well, talk about second sock syndrome
LOL Double SSS. EEEEeeeeekk!
I'm definitely going to use the circ method for my next pair of socks.
Ribbing IS boring, so I save it to wok on while watching a movie, chatting with friends...it's mindless and I don't have to pay such close attention like with my lace shawl. THAT I can only work on in complete silence!
I was about to write that knitting ribbing builds character, but then I realized: that's what my mother would say. Which makes me feel like maybe I'm old enough to start turning into my mother - not really a bad thing at all, since my mother also says, "There's ALWAYS something more worth doing than housework." Smart Mom.
As far as I'm concerned, it takes character just to start Sock #2 at all.
